The system format, reports, management, and support areas are user friendly and common to all the TestSMART® PLUS computer aided testing and instruction programs (CAT and CAI), as described below.

Tests are presented in the same format so students can study at different levels without seeming to be behind or ahead of their peers.

Teachers can print reports of assignments and exercises for files, prescriptions, students, parents, and more. Certain lessons may be printed, allowing full use of the materials.

Management
A teacher-friendly classroom and student management record system allows teachers to create a prescriptive and record-keeping program for each student, set passing percentages for lessons, make back-up files of student data for transfer to another computer, and store files as documentation of work.

Support
A comprehensive, easy-to-use Teacher’s Guide covering curriculum lesson numbers, student and classroom management, reports, and system manager is included. Free six-month telephone technical support is provided to the original purchaser.

System Requirements
Windows 95/98-386 or higher CPU, 8-MB RAM memory plus 30-MB hard disk space, CD-ROM drive, color VGA monitor. PC-compatible only.

CAT–Computer Aided Testing with
Management System

Grades K-8
Students will use the Computer Aided Testing (CAT) to complete standard-specific tests, which help evaluate the students' performance. The package provides Form A as a pre-test to check skills needed and Form B as a post-test to check for mastery of those skills. CAT also includes the TestSMART® PLUS Management and Reporting System.

The CAT series of reading and language arts tests and math tests provides a diagnostic and placement service for the separate TestSMART® PLUS Computer Aided Instruction (CAI) lessons (described below) and other standards-based resources. For reading and language arts, there are 56 tests for each grade (K to 8). Each test measures (by standard) on level, below level, and above level.

This program is capable of assigning remedial lessons/exercises based on students' performance on the test. Teachers can use these computer-assigned practice lessons or choose their own items.

CAI–Computer Aided Instruction with
Management System

Grades K-8
In the Computer Aided Instruction (CAI) format, students work on sequentially developed lessons directly on the computer. The lessons cover key subjects, such as reading, language arts, mathematics, and more! CAI also includes the TestSMART® PLUS Management and Reporting System. The CAI curriculum for reading and language arts allows students from grades 1+ to work independently on lessons that cover reading, comprehension, word analysis, spelling, vocabulary development, English usage, literature, skillful reading, citizenship, science, and study skills. The reading and language arts series includes 1,936 lessons. The CAI curriculum for math allows students grades K+ to work independently on lessons that cover operations, applications, problem solving, numbers, measurement, basic algebra, basic geometry, remedial math, and study skills.
